Great book! January 9, 2009 This is a great book full of opportunities to share many memories. If you plan on giving it as a gift for a holiday, be sure to buy it ahead of time to give yourself plenty of time to fill it out.
A must-have priceless family heirloom! January 7, 2009 I bought 3 copies of this book (one for my father, one for each of my grandfathers) as well as the counterpart for women, and they are wonderful, brilliant, lovely books and I will never, ever be sorry that I bought them.
The book is chock full of questions that are priceless and heartwarming about your upbringing, ranging from "what was the decor in your bedroom" to "what was your first kiss like". These are things that the vast majority of people would never think to ask or answer without prompting, but they paint such an amazingly more intimate picture of your life.
The only two minor objections I have to this book are the overt Protestant angle to the book ("when did you get saved", for example, being a completely inappropriate question for any Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Hindus or anyone else who would benefit from the book otherwise), and the repetition of some of the questions specifically relating to secondary and post-secondary education.
It is, however, a brilliant, lovely book. My paternal grandfather returned his and made copies for all of his children and we treasure it, and I just the one back from my maternal grandfather and intend on making copies for my uncles and cousins.
Excellent Book for Dads November 24, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A Father's Legacy: Your Life Story in Your Own Words
This book is a great gift for Fathers. Nice size, and lots of questions to jog your mind about your life and passing on things about yourself to your children. You can pick it up and complete a page or two at a time. Nice gift that can be completed and read to your children while you're still alive or by them after you die.
If you buy it for an elderly father, you could ask him questions out of the book and do the writing yourself. Great gift that keeps on giving.
The book has a spiral binding, so it's easy to keep open while you're writing in it. Also, there are so many questions that if any are too uncomfortable to answer or hard to remember at the time, you can just move on to another one.
This is such a nice gift for the father of your children or even your own father March 31, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is a very detailed book. It has more than what I even thought was in it. It is a great gift.

I bought this book for my husband, and we just got it yesterday. At first he didnt even want to be bothered with the book, wouldnt even open it. But as a good wife I am, I nagged and nagged some more lol, finally he opened it up. Well, he never let it down until he had got to the last page of the book. I think I might have even saw a tear falling down his face. :) This is going to be a wonderful book for our daughters! After we are gone, this book will give our daughters a chance to really know things about their father. I just wish I had bought more. Oh wait, I think I will now! Why don't you too? aloha
